Volunteer Title: Member Services Volunteer Supervisor: Membership Director Start Date: June 30, 2025 End Date: July 31, 2025 Total Hours: 50 hours Typical Schedule: Tuesdays, Thursdays 9:30 am – 2:30 pm POSITION SUMMARY: The Member Service Volunteer will work within our Membership department at the West Suburban YMCA, alongside our Membership leadership staff. During the internship, Member Service Volunteer will gain exposure to the basic inner workings of the membership department. Your time spent learning how the Membership department operates will build skill sets and experience to further set you up for your future. And most importantly- your time spent at the Y will directly contribute to strengthening the community we serve. By supporting the Membership team, you’ll help create a welcoming environment for all, making a meaningful and lasting impact on individuals and families who rely on the YMCA. Tasks and projects include: • Welcoming members to the facility. • Follow-up of customer experience. • Providing an impeccable service to members in order to retain them. • Answering questions, suggestions, remarks from members. • Giving tours. • Directing people by showing them the way to parts of the building they are headed to. • Making copies of monthly schedules. • You will be encouraged to provide feedback that could improve the overall customer experience. • Other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisor. SKILLS ACQUIRED: We hope to build valuable skillsets during your time at the West Suburban YMCA, which will help build your work experience and resume. These skills include, but are not limited to: Teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, adaptability, communication skills, time management (planning/prioritizing), software/systems education, project management and building your network. Ability to apply in practice the knowledge and skills acquired in the academic setting 2. High customer orientation and friendliness. 3. Fluent in English (written & spoken), second language would be a plus. 4. Commitment to consistent, agreed upon schedule. 5. Team player. 6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability to bend, squat, run, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs.
