Internship Job Title:  Aquatics Volunteer   Supervisor: Association Aquatics Director Revision Date: January 2026 Start Date: February 2026/Flexible End Date: June 2026/Flexible Total Hours: 5-20 hours, flexible Typical Schedule: TBD based on need and availability Location: TBD - Church Street or Wells Ave, depending on Department need. POSITION SUMMARY:  The Aquatics Volunteer will work within our Aquatics program at the West Suburban YMCA, alongside our Aquatics leadership staff. During the internship, the Aquatics Volunteer will gain exposure to the basic inner workings of the aquatics department. Your time spent learning how the Aquatics Department operates will build skill sets and experience to further set you up for your future!  Tasks and projects include: Help assist our swim instructors with teaching instructional swim programs, learn how to build engaging lessons plans Organization and taking inventory of aquatics equipment Other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisor OUR CULTURE:  Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. Knowledge of proper swim strokes. Ability to apply in practice the knowledge and skills acquired in the academic setting. Previously competitive swim experience preferred. Basic working knowledge of computer and a willingness to learn new technology. Commitment to consistent, agreed upon schedule. Team player. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk or hear, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell. Ability to continuously stand or walk for length of shift. Ability to exhibit swim strokes. Ability to bend, squat, run, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs.
