West Suburban YMCA
Volunteer coaches are the backbone of our youth sports leagues! Being a Coach involves some responsibilities of communication pre-season, during the season and at the end of the season. A one hour commitment, each week coaches are asked to lead a 30 minute skills lesson, and manage the team for a 30 minute YBA game that is officiated by Y staff. Practice ideas, plans and drills are provided. You can elect to be a Head Coach, Co-Coach with another volunteer, or Assistant Coach. INTERESTED IN BECOMING A COACH? All leagues run on Saturdays at either our Church Street or Wells Avenue location in Newton, MA. We always pair parent coaches with their children. May 2nd - June 20th (no games on May 23rd) Schedule is 1 hour per week - 9:45am - 10:45am Required steps prior to the start of the season include completing an application online through Volunteer Matters, completing a state CORI and national background checks, a 12-minute Child Abuse Prevention training and concussion training.
